Lower Water & Sewer Rates
Lower the water & sewer rates which is a financial burden on every resident in Manassas Park. The City does not have the economies of scale that larger water systems and private companies have to make system repairs and replacements.
Here is my detailed plan to reduce water & sewer rates:
-
Continue to negotiate the selling of our water system on terms that will provide the benefits to all residents in lower rates, needed repairs and good customer service.
Rt. 28 & the Manassas Park VRE Station
-
I worked to get improvements for Rt. 28. As a result Rt. 28 between Manassas and I-66 received $108.5 Million in funding from NVTA. The improvements include a bypass to extend Godwin Dr. to cross over Bull Run on a new bridge and rejoin Rt. 28 at the Fairfax County line, which is being reviewed in a federally required Environmental Impact Study. And additional lanes on Rt. 28 from U.S. 29 in Fairfax County to the Prince William County line.
(The green line shows where Godwin Drive would be extended from its current terminus at Sudley Rd northward across Bull Run to Rt. 28)
-
I worked to get state funding for the parking garage at the Manassas Park VRE station which we received. Next, I will review and approve the legal agreements and final design on terms that are in the best interests of the City.
Focus on Education
-
Ensure that education funding is not cut and students have the resources they need to succeed in school and beyond.
Improve our Local Economy
-
Bring businesses to Manassas Park to fill vacant spaces and support the retention of businesses that are here.
